Kathmandu: Hon. Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Minister of Finance, who is currently the Governor from Nepal in the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), has been elected as the Vice-Chair of the Board for the term 2026-2027 during the Governors’ Business Roundtable held in Doha on September 28.
Minister Dr. Wagle attended the Opening Ceremony of the Eleventh Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of AIIB which was graced with the presence of the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
Moreover, Minister Dr. Wagle held meetings with H.E. Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance of India, and H.E. Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Minister of Finance of Bangladesh, separately on the sidelines of the Annual Meeting.
During the meetings, both sides discussed about strengthening bilateral economic ties, trade and investment, and promoting tourism and clean energy, alongside various matters of mutual interest,
Minister Dr. Wagle also attended the Host Member Gala Dinner hosted by the Government of the State of Qatar.
