Kathmandu: On the one hand, disasters such as floods, landslides, droughts and unseasonal rains caused by climate change have reduced production and food security is at risk.
It is estimated that about 93 kg of food is wasted per person per year in Nepal. A loss of 1 kg of food means not only resources and investment, but also aggravating the climate crisis by increasing emissions.
On the occasion of IDAFLW 2026, the Center for Agricultural Communication and Human Resource Development (CACHRD) and FAO Nepal jointly organized the program to reduce food loss and prevent food wastage for climate resilience and food security. Emphasis is placed on behavioral change as well as the expansion of technology and investment in the food value chain.
