Kathmandu: Megan Bouldin, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. at the US Embassy in Nepal met Prime Minister Balendra Shah on September 16 to advance U.S.-Nepal cooperation following the devastating August 26 floods. CDA Bouldin conveyed President Trump’s offer of support for Nepal and the sympathies and condolences of the United States to all those affected by the disaster.
CDA Bouldin thanked Prime Minister Shah for his government’s assistance in the search for missing Americans and highlighted the FBI’s ongoing support for the Nepal Police in identifying disaster victims to provide answers to American and Nepali families along with all others awaiting news of their loved ones.
Chargé Bouldin reiterated the US commitment to continue to work closely with the Government on flood relief efforts and discussed the more than $5 million worth of life-saving health, humanitarian, and forensics-related assistance the United States has provided in support of recovery from this disaster.
According to the embassy, the two also discussed opportunities to deepen economic and commercial cooperation, including expanding opportunities for American and Nepali businesses, in support of Nepal’s recovery and long-term economic growth.
