US Embassy DCM Meets Nepal Police DIG to Discuss Ongoing Flood-response Efforts

Kathmandu: Scott Urbom, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Kathmandu, met with Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police Deependra GC in Pokhara on September 18 to discuss ongoing flood-response efforts and U.S.-Nepal cooperation.

The Nepal Police are coordinating critical flood-response efforts following the August 26 Bhote Koshi-Trishuli disaster, including working closely with FBI specialists with recovery and victim identification, along a corridor where more than 2.2 million tons of debris and mud traveled nearly 200 kilometers downstream.

DCM Urbom thanked the Nepal Police for their determined work and longstanding assistance in locating, rescuing, and supporting American citizens in Nepal.
