Kathmandu: A courtesy meeting was held between the President of the International Relations & Global Diplomacy Dialogue (IRGDD), Amb. Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal and the United Nations Resident Coordinator to Nepal, H.E. Ms. Lila Pieters Yahia, at the UN House on May 18.
The meeting focused on Nepal’s development trajectory, multilateral cooperation, sustainable economic growth, entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, and opportunities for enhanced collaboration between international institutions and national stakeholders in advancing Nepal’s long-term development aspirations.
During the interaction, the UN Resident Coordinator appreciated the vision, initiatives, and objectives of IRGDD in promoting diplomatic dialogue, policy engagement, global partnerships, and constructive international cooperation. She acknowledged the institution’s growing contribution toward fostering meaningful discussions on diplomacy, leadership, development, and international engagement, particularly through its efforts to bridge dialogue among diplomats, policymakers, institutions, academia, and emerging leaders.
Discussions also focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, and youth empowerment as important drivers of Nepal’s future development. The Resident Coordinator highlighted the importance of supporting entrepreneurial initiatives and inclusive development efforts that can contribute to long-term socioeconomic growth.

Amb. Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal reaffirmed IRGDD’s commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue, partnerships, and collaborative initiatives that support Nepal’s development aspirations and strengthen international engagement. She also formally welcomed and conveyed her best wishes to H.E. Ms. Lila Pieters Yahia for a successful tenure in Nepal and expressed confidence in her mission and vision toward supporting Nepal’s sustainable development priorities and strengthening the United Nations’ continued engagement in the country.
Marking a significant highlight of the meeting, the President of IRGDD presented a ceremonial cup to the Resident Coordinator, honoring her status as the Honorary Member of the Ambassadors Club, as well as the latest edition of The Diplomat Nepal, celebrating the proud milestone of the publication’s 1-year anniversary.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides emphasizing continued cooperation and shared efforts toward sustainable development and inclusive progress in Nepal.
