DPR Magar Speaks at the UN Security Council High-Level Open Debate

Kathmandu: Gyan Bahadur Magar, Deputy Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN, spoke at the UN Security Council High-Level Open Debate on ‘Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-Centered International System.’ He underscored the UN Charter as a foundational legal instrument for multilateral cooperation, global peace and collective security, and advancing justice, human dignity, and sustainable development.

Reaffirming Nepal’s steadfast commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter as the guiding framework of its foreign policy, DPR Magar emphasized the importance of upholding them without selectivity.

He further highlighted the need for a more united, accountable, and impartial Security Council; meaningful reform of the UN system; full compliance with international obligations; and strengthened global solidarity, mutual trust, peaceful coexistence, and cooperation.

He also stressed the centrality of the UN in addressing pressing development challenges, including climate-related disasters, inequality, public health crises, and digital divide.
