Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal organized a special programme on the occasion of International Wellness Day 2026 at the Embassy premises in Moscow on April 15. The programme was organized following the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of a
resolution on l0 March 2026 proclaiming 15 April as International Wellness Day.
Maheshwar Mani Tripathi, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy, delivered the opening remarks for the celebration of the first International Wellness Day 2026. In his remarks he highlighted the growing global relevance of wellness, stressing that true well-being encompasses not only physical health but also mental, emotional and spiritual balance. He underscored Nepal’s unique identity as a destination for wellness, rooted in its natural beauty, spiritual heritage and its long-standing tradition of yoga, meditation and mindful living.
The closing remarks for the programme were delivered by Oleg Vavilov, Head of the Board of Moscow Buddhist Society. Vavilov emphasized the importance of holistic approach towards
wellness and stated that preventive attitude towards overall health overwhelmingly outweighs the multifaceted cost of curing diseases. He also informed that modern lifestyle has brought many ills along with its comforts and ease.
Anjela Vaidya, a Nepali Cardiologist working in Moscow, highlighted the recent research on hypertension and heart diseases and stressed that a holistic approach towards wellness is increasingly sought by medical personnels.
The programme was followed by a specially curated healthy lunch, reflecting the spirit of wellness promoted through celebration. The guests were served with Nepali food items including buckwheat, sprouted grains, saag and a savory buttermilk drink Mohi.
The event was attended by the representatives of Russia Nepal Friendship Society, Russian Buddhist organizations, travel and tour companies in Moscow and Nepali diaspora in Russia.
