FAO Begins the Five-Day Regional Exchange on Indigenous Integrated Fire Stewardship Knowledge and Practices 

Kathmandu: FAO Nepal begins a five-day Regional Five-Day Regional Exchange on Indigenous Integrated Fire Stewardship Knowledge and Practices began today in Kathmandu, bringing together Indigenous leaders and practitioners from 12 countries across the Asia sociocultural region.

Ken Shimizu, FAO Representative for Bhutan and Nepal, opened the regional workshop by welcoming participants and highlighted the growing urgency of addressing forest fires through integrated approaches that recognize and build on Indigenous Peoples’ knowledge and stewardship practices.

Organized under FAO’s support to the International Indigenous‑led Fire Adaptation Network (IIFAN) through the Global Fire Management Hub, the exchange promotes south‑south learning and Indigenous‑led solutions for resilient and inclusive fire and forest management.
