ILO Nepal Conducts Workshop to Develop Integrated Strategies

Kathmandu: To eliminate child labour in Nepal’s carpert and brick sectors which are the two priority sectors identified under Nepal’s National Master plan on the Elimination of Child Labour, ILO Nepal brought government representatives, employers, workers’ organizations and civil society for a two-day workshop to develop integrated strategies.

The workshop focused to strengthen understanding of international labour standards and Nepal’s legal framework to promote the ILO’s Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and support participants in developing practical, sector-specific action plans to prevent child labour while advancing decent work and responsible business practices.

As Nepal prepares for graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status, strengthening compliance with fundamental labour rights is essential for protecting children, improving working conditions and enhancing the competitiveness of Nepalese industries in global supply chains.

Together, through social dialogue and shared commitment, The workplaces can be built  that are free from child labour and ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
