Kathmandu: The Embassy of India celebrated Buddha Jayanti in Lumbini in collaboration with the Lumbini Development Trust and Lumbini Buddhist University.
The highlights of the event included a painting exhibition by school students, chanting of prayers by monks from India and Nepal, and a vibrant cultural evening.
The cultural event featured a Buddhism-themed Kathak dance performance by an ICCR troupe led by Deepti Gupta and a musical presentation by a Nepali band led by Suresh Raj Bajracharya.
Krishna Bahadur Gharti Magar, Governor of Lumbini Province, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
As a part of this celebration, an experimental seminar on ‘Relevance of Buddha’s Teaching: Pathways to Peace, Harmony and Sustainable Development’ was held today at Lumbini Buddhist University. Scholars from Nepal and India discussed the infinite importance of the messages of Lord Buddha in the present world.
