Kathmandu: In response to the devastating floods that hit Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and surrounding areas on 26 August 2026, the Government of Japan, through JICA, has provided emergency relief goods to support affected communities in Nepal.
The relief supplies, weighing nearly 9.3 tons, arrived in Nepal and were officially handed over at a ceremony held at the Humanitarian Staging Area of Tribhuvan International Airport. The assistance package includes blankets, sleeping pads, tents, plastic sheets, and portable jerry cans to help meet the urgent needs of flood-affected families.
During the handover ceremony, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal H.E. Mr. MAEDA Toru and JICA Nepal Chief Representative Mr. MATSUZAKI Mizuki expressed their solidarity with those impacted by the disaster.
JICA Nepal has expressed the hope that the assistance will help ease immediate hardships and support the recovery and rebuilding efforts of affected communities.
