Kathmandu: Nepal, together with Russia and the United Nations, celebrated Russian Language Day on June 6. Prof. Dr. Susil Bahadur Bajracharya, Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, put a floral mala garland on the bust of Alexander Pushkin in Kathmandu.
The solemn ceremony was organized by the Nepal-Russian Literary Society. A literary evening dedicated to the work of Alexander Pushkin was held at the Russian House in Kathmandu.
The Russian language is the most widely spoken native language in Europe. Russian Language Day was established by UNESCO in 2010. The day coincides with the birthday of the great Russian poet.
