Kathmandu: Nepal marked the first-ever International Wellness Day on April 15 with a special program held at Tundikhel under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including parliament Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal and Minister for Tourism Khadak Raj Poudel, along with representatives from various government agencies and organizations.

This year marks the beginning of International Wellness Day being observed globally under Nepal’s leadership. The United Nations General Assembly has officially designated April 15 as International Wellness Day, aiming to promote overall health, happiness, and a balanced lifestyle worldwide.

The initiative originated from Nepal, whose proposal to establish a global Wellness Day was endorsed by the General Assembly. Initially proposed to be observed annually on March 26, the date was later formalized as April 15 for international observance.

Officials emphasized that the day seeks to raise awareness about the importance of physical, mental, and emotional well-being, encouraging individuals and communities to adopt healthier and more balanced ways of living.
