Kathmandu: Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, in collaboration with the NRNA-Switzerland, organized ‘Nepal-Switzerland Friendship: Mountains and Peoples’ programme in Bern, Switzerland to celebrate 70 years of Nepal-Switzerland Friendship on May 30. His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Ram Prasad Subedi highlighted the excellent 70 years of bilateral relations between Nepal and Switzerland built on shared context of mountains and deep connections between the two peoples.
Ambassador Mr. Subedi invited the participants to visit Nepal for lifetime experiences of nature, culture and adventure. The Head of the Asia and the Americas Division of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Arno Wicki highlighted the strong people-to-people ties, similar mountain ecosystems of Nepal and Switzerland and long tradition of cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
The video message by Hon’ble Foreign Minister Mr. Shisir Khanal themed ‘Sagarmatha, the Highest Peak of the World: Identity and Pride of Nepal’ was played at the program together with a promotional video highlighting the Mt. Everest and touristic attractions of Nepal.
On the occasion, Nepali and Swiss mountaineers Mrs. Susmita Maskey Niraula and Ms Julia Hamilton, development workers Mr. Dieter Elmer & Mrs. Subha Elmer Lama, and a friend of Nepal Me Jean Denis Jaquet were felicitated. They shared their Nepal stories at the programme.
