Kathmandu: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) hosted the second day of their program, the Nepal Promotion Program with B2B Networking Session, at The LaLit, New Delhi on April 28. The event was held in collaboration with the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi and saw enthusiastic participation from prominent attendees, including high-level dignitaries from both nations.
Vinayak Shah, Chairman of HAN, extended heartfelt welcome remarks to all dignitaries, participants, and media representatives. The event attracted over 40 hotel brands from Nepal and more than 80 travel agents and hoteliers from India, showcasing the robust interest in Nepal as a premier travel destination.
The highlight of the event included a comprehensive presentation by Laxman Gautam, Officiating Director of NTB, who emphasized Nepal’s unique offerings and key tourism highlights appealing to Indian travelers. He articulated the deep-rooted historical and cultural connections that bind the people of both nations, making Nepal an easily marketable destination in the Indian market.
Attendees engaged in a rich B2B networking session designed to foster collaboration and partnerships in the tourism sector. M.P. Bezharuah, Secretary General of the Hotel Association of India, shared insights on the enduring popularity of Nepal as a preferred international destination for Indian travelers since the late 1970s. He remarked, “The historical trend of Nepal being the first choice for leisure, religious, and honeymoon travelers in India has only strengthened with rising travel trends among Indian citizens.”
Additionally, Ambika Joshi, Minister Counselor & Spokesperson from the Embassy of Nepal, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm evident throughout the event. “The commitment to establishing similar forums in the future reflects our dedication to nurturing the Nepal-India tourism partnership,” he asserted.
Robin Regmi, Senior Officer at NTB, engaged with industry leaders from India, emphasizing the potential for future collaborations that would enhance the tourism industry of both countries. “With over 1,700 km of shared land borders, we are optimistic about exploring border tourism opportunities that benefit both nations,” he stated.
Further reinforcing the importance of sustainability, Ankita Jaiswal, Sustainability Lead at FHRAI, advocated for prioritizing local culture to create unique experiences that forge lasting memories and encourage repeat visits.
This two-day event underscores NTB and HAN’s commitment to promoting Nepal as a versatile and attractive destination in the Indian wedding and tourism market. The first day of the event observed great enthusiasm among Indian wedding planners, while expressing their great interest in Nepal as the best choice wedding destination due to the cultural affinity, geographical proximity and convenience.
The organization stated that with the positive momentum generated by these events, both organizations anticipate fruitful outcomes as they work together to expand Nepal’s reach to Indian travelers.
