Kathmandu: People in Need Nepal, were honoured to welcome Thomas Millar, Chargé d’Affaires of the European Union Delegation to Nepal, and representatives from the European Union in Nepal to Barhabise Municipality,Sindhupalchowk, during the handover of emergency relief supplies under the EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid funded Pratibaddha Project.
Emergency relief materials worth more than NPR 2.34 million were handed over to strengthen the municipality’s capacity to respond quickly and effectively to disasters. The support package includes 26 family tents, 140 non-food relief item sets, 140 dignity kits, and 20 warehouse pallets, which will be pre-positioned for rapid deployment during earthquakes, floods, landslides, fires, and other climate- and disaster-related emergencies.
As climate change continues to increase the frequency and severity of disasters, investing in local preparedness is essential. By ensuring emergency supplies are available where they are needed most, local governments can respond faster, protect vulnerable communities, and reduce the impacts of future disasters.
