US Embassy Supports Dialogue on “Energy Security, Market Formation, and Trade” in Pokhara

Kathmandu: The US Embassy supported a CEO Dialogue on “Energy Security, Market Formation, and Trade” in Pokhara. The dialogue was done to further advance United States-Nepal commercial diplomacy.

Implemented by Aadyanta Advisory and the International Development Institute, and co-organized by AmCham Nepal, the Confederation of Nepalese Industries, and the Nepal Young Entrepreneurs’ Forum, the dialogue brought together business leaders, policymakers, investors, academics, and entrepreneurs to discuss Nepal’s energy transition as a market formation opportunity with regional security and trade implications.

The discussion featured Madan Uprety, CEO of Infra Nepal Development Fund and chair of Everest Federal Credit Union, who is advancing more than $1.2 billion in hydropower investments in Nepal. The conversation focused on practical steps to help Nepal’s hydropower sector move from strong potential to successful project delivery. Drawing on his experience as an expert in infrastructure finance, Uprety highlighted opportunities to strengthen project planning, financial structuring, contract management, technical capacity, and implementation systems. He also shared how U.S. management practices, corporate governance standards, and diaspora expertise can be adapted to Nepal’s context to support high-quality hydropower development and long-term economic growth.
