Photojournalist Onta Honored by ‘World Book of Records, London’

Kathmandu:  The internationally renowned organization World Book of Records, London has honored Nepal’s senior photojournalist and photojournalist at the National News Agency (RSS), Pradeep Raj Onta, with a Certificate of Excellence.
The honor was conferred in recognition of his remarkable contribution to the promotion of Nepal’s social, political, cultural, and tourism sectors.
Onta received the award during the 20th International Summit and Awards Ceremony held in Kathmandu on April 30, 2026. The recognition has further established his long professional journey and contributions at the international level.
Actively engaged in photojournalism for more than two decades, Onta has consistently highlighted various aspects of Nepali society through his camera lens. He is currently serving as a senior photojournalist at the National News Agency (RSS) and also holds the responsibility of Central President of the National Photojournalists Group Nepal.
In the development and promotion of photojournalism, he has played a significant role by conducting training programs across different provinces and districts of the country, helping equip a new generation of journalists and photographers with professional skills.
Onta has also previously served as a photojournalist in the secretariat of the government led by former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. In addition, he has served twice as an official photographer for the Election Commission of Nepal.
He has received numerous national and international awards in the past. Among them, he was honored with the Best Photo Journalist of the Year 2016 award by former President Bidya Devi Bhandari, along with several letters of appreciation and recognitions from various institutions.
Likewise, Onta was also honored by the international Imperial Photo Journalism Appreciation in Dhaka, Bangladesh. That recognition further established his active role and contribution to South Asian photojournalism on the international stage.
Active in photojournalism, training, event management, and education, Onta is recognized as a versatile and accomplished personality. Stakeholders say his contribution has played an important role in promoting Nepal’s photojournalism sector internationally.
During the event organized by World Book of Records, London, distinguished personalities from various countries and professional fields were also honored. Awards were presented in areas including arts, literature, health, security, tourism, spirituality, and entrepreneurship.
