Kathmandu: Lok Bahadur Thapa, president of ECOSOC, met Foreign Minister of Tajikistan. During the meeting, he reaffirmed the Economic and Social Council’s (ECOSOC) commitment to supporting dialogue, coordination and follow-up across the UN system on sustainable development issues, including water, climate resilience and disaster risk reduction.
The discussions focused on sustaining international momentum following the 2023 UN Water Conference and preparations for the 2026 UN Water Conference, as well as advancing #SDG6 through multilateral cooperation and integrated approaches across the #2030Agenda, including at the upcoming #HLPF2026.
He also welcomed Tajikistan’s leadership on glacier and cryosphere-related issues.
