FAO Nepal Conducts GESI Capacity Building Exercise to Strengthen Inclusive Development

Kathmandu: FAO Nepal recently organized a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) capacity building exercise aimed at enhancing institutional understanding and commitment to inclusive development practices.

The session brought together staff and partners to deepen knowledge on integrating GESI principles across programmes and operations. Speaking during the exercise, the FAO Representative for Bhutan and Nepal emphasized that GESI is not a one-time intervention but requires continuous learning, strong partnerships, and sustained commitment from all levels of an organization.

He highlighted that advancing gender equality and social inclusion is essential for ensuring equitable and effective development outcomes, particularly in agriculture and rural development sectors.

The practical session was facilitated by FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (FAO RAP), which provided hands-on guidance and tools to help participants better apply GESI concepts in real-world programming. Participants engaged in discussions and exercises focused on identifying inclusion gaps and strengthening responsive approaches in project design and implementation.

FAO Nepal expressed gratitude to FAO RAP for its technical support and practical engagement during the training.

The initiative aligns with FAO’s broader commitment to promoting inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development under global and regional frameworks, including #IYWF2026.
