Kathmandu: Representatives from the Ministry of Education and Culture, eight local governments, and eight Community Learning Centres (CLCs) explored the question: How can CLCs open more pathways to education, skills, and digital learning? A recent exposure and cross-learning visit to B.P. Koirala CLC in Mohattari, hosted by the CLC and the Bhangaha Municipality, saw how CLCs are helping adolescents return to school while connecting communities with literacy, vocational skills and digital learning opportunities.
UNICEF has been supporting the government in strengthening CLCs across Nepal, helping ensure more children and adolescents get a second chance at learning and skills development.
“CLCs are not isolated entities; they are part of the government system. When we trust CLCs with responsibilities, they show commitment and deliver,” said Nar Bahadur Pakhrin, Head of Education Section, Bhangaha Municipality. “This encourages us to support them further.”
Adding to this, Dilip Mukhiya, Section Officer, Education, Science and Technology Division, Ministry of Education and Culture, said: “I am very pleased to see such a model CLC in Madhesh. These good practices provide an opportunity for wider replication.”
